Raised on pasture. Raised with purpose.
Trujillo Family Ranch is the livestock side of Trujillo Family Farm & Ranch.
The Ranch begins with laying hens and expands from there.
Pasture-raised eggs
Whole pasture-raised chickens
Thanksgiving turkeys
Pork
Lamb
Goat
Beef
We're not rushing this.
We want to build each enterprise responsibly.
That means having enough pasture.
Enough infrastructure.
Reliable processing.
And, most importantly, families who actually want the food we're raising.
We're taking a slightly different approach to expanding the Ranch.
Instead of raising animals first and hoping customers appear later, we want demand to help guide our decisions.
Interested in lamb?
Tell us.
Want a quarter beef?
Tell us.
Would your family regularly purchase pork?
Tell us.
Reservations and future deposits give us real information that we can use to determine where to invest next.
Strong demand may help us bring certain Ranch products online sooner.
We want to be transparent, though.
Lamb, goat and beef would likely not become available until late 2027 or later.
[HELP US PLAN THE RANCH]
Those words aren't just a tagline.
They're the standard we're trying to build around.
Our goal is to raise livestock using a pasture-based system inspired by regenerative and rotational grazing practices.
Animals will be moved through pasture rather than being permanently confined to one small area.
That gives animals access to:
Fresh forage
Sunshine
Fresh air
Outdoor space
Opportunities to express more natural behaviors
Instead of leaving animals on the same ground continuously, we plan to move them through different sections of pasture.
Animals graze an area.
They move.
That area rests.
Plants recover.
Animals eventually return after the pasture has had time to regenerate.
This helps us distribute manure and nutrients more evenly while reducing the damage that can come from leaving livestock in the same place too long.
Trujillo Family Ranch isn't separate from the vegetable farm.
The two are intended to support each other.
Animals return nutrients to the soil.
Healthy soil grows better pasture.
Healthy pasture supports livestock.
And improved soil fertility can eventually benefit our vegetable fields.
Our long-term goal is to rely increasingly on fertility generated within the Farm & Ranch ecosystem rather than constantly purchasing fertility from somewhere else.
Our goal is to avoid routine antibiotic use.
However, we also believe strongly that an animal should never be allowed to suffer just so we can make a marketing claim.
If one of our animals becomes sick and medically needs treatment, we will treat it.
We will document that treatment.
We will follow all required medication withdrawal periods.
And where an individual animal is being sold directly to a specific customer, we'll be transparent about its treatment history so the customer can make their own decision.
Caring for the animal comes first.
Pasture is important, but animals such as chickens and pigs cannot live on grass alone.
They require supplemental nutrition.
Our goal is to source feed locally whenever practical and prioritize:
Non-GMO feed
Organic-certified feed when available and practical
High-quality conventional feed when necessary
We would rather tell our customers exactly what we're feeding than make a claim we can't consistently support.
Transparency matters more to us than a label.
